Stop me if you heard this before, “Every morning we all wake up and we have a battle and obstacles we must all face.” We must choose between two people, who we are and who we want to become. The first choice is “ME” (my external) the version of yourself that is composed of past experiences and mindsets. They hold you back from getting to where you want to be. This version says, “Why try you know what will happen, you’ll fail.” Play it safe it’s comfortable and you already know the outcome so why would you go there.
Have you ever had a moment or known someone that has said “it could always be worst” right after they fail at something? That’s an easy way of saying well I gave it my best shot I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Could it be that we are little by little lowering our level of standards and also what we think we truly deserve. So when new opportunities come our way we view them as unfamiliar and not for us. I was recently at a Starbucks and an employee calls out that there is an extra Venti Caramel Frappuccino on the counter for anyone who wanted it for free! Now what happens next will shock my fellow opportunist. No one got up but everyone looks in its direction, this shocked me and I sat and observed for 5 minutes as everyone looked but does not move. As I walked up grabbed the drink and thanked the employee I thought to myself everyone had the same opportunity. They either did not recognize the opportunity or chose to sit idle. They watched for whatever reason whether they did not like the drink, thought it was a joke, or did not understand the word “free.” Out of 35 people only one decided to take action.
The second Choice is MI (My Internal) the version of you that wants to do more the spark to witty ideas and innovations yet to be discovered and made. Your inner being that is hungry for continuous development and improvement, This version for most people only wins the battle 1out of 10 times. Why is this because as humans we are basically humans and we blow new opportunities with old habits until we make the mind shift and finally realize that if we truly want to level up our environment not only has to change but who we are internally has to change also so that when we arrive at the door of the next level we walk through not one leg in with some new habits and one leg out with old habits we refuse to let go of despite what we see ahead of ourselves. “Every Next Level of Your Life Demands a Different You!! -Bob Donnell Now that’s a great quote.
The Battle is yours what will you decide when the sun comes up!!
